The year 1948 was the greatest landmark in the history of Marathwada for the people began to breath freely with their heads held up high as they had valiantly shattered the shackles of slavery.

It had marked the provenance of a new era, the triumph and the awakening of masses against slavery, suppression, illiteracy and ignorance. A decade later our eminent leaders Late Shri Vianayakrao Patil, Late Shri Babasaheb Sawanekar, Late Shri Dadasaheb Sawant and a few others, though hailing from mofussil area had profound insight and foresight, had unanimously decided to enkindle the lamp of knowledge with greater hopes, aspirations and expectations. They intended to lead the masses from darkness to light, non realization to realization, ignorance to knowledge, avidya to vidya which eternalizes emblem of institute तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय where main objective is to provide quality education to socially and economically backward classes.

It was Shri Yashwantraoraoji Chavan, the guiding and inspiring spirit, who foster these local leaders to establish an institution of their own for imparting education to youth coming from economically weaker classes, sons of soils, farm workers and others. Thus, with this all embracing and comprehensive vision that the Marathwada Shikshan Prasarak Mandal saw an hour of dawn in Sept. 1958. The founding fathers of institution were the towering personalities and hence they had thought to start colleges in an ignored area to achieve the intended goals and objectives, also for social transformation through education.

In June 1960 that these views were came to renown and implemented, with the inauguration of Balbhim Arts, Science and Commerce College, Beed and Deogiri College at Aurangabad with the auspicious hands of Hon’ble Shri Y.B.Chavan, the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra. It was prosperous start made to achieve the esteemed goals and objectives. The Mandal also established one more college at Parbhani in 1961. The Mandal could thus uplifted people of Beed district, who had been deprived of, by the educational centre with the positive efforts which raised to Balbhim Arts, Science and Commerce College here in Beed. It was the first college in Beed city. It has created resources and utilized them for educational liberalization of common people, promoting intellectual, ethical and cultural development of society. The College is affiliated with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, also recognized by UGC under different sections, 2(f) and 12(B). From then onwards, the college has grown academically and attained a reputation as an empowering institution.
